GRAYTON BEACH, FL 2018
This large single-family home in historic Grayton Beach faces a quiet sandy street and Grayton Beach State Park. The living areas were elevated to reduce the home’s footprint and protect the endangered beach mice that live among the dunes that border the home. This also provides better views of the protected sand dunes, scrub oak, and the Gulf of Mexico from every window and porch.
The exterior of the home is painted block and corrugated metal siding for the wood portion. It is three stories with a roof deck, a swimming pool and an outdoor deck that is surrounded by a small fenced yard. Inside the home, a pneumatic glass elevator does not interrupt views from within the open living area, which includes the kitchen and dining area. A huge screened front porch is all about the views and salty breezes from the Gulf.
