Asheville, NC 2016
This four bedroom home for a young family was designed to capitalize on the many views found throughout this property, which is located at a high point in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.
A flat roof supported by columns was used to indicate the main entry of the home. Upon entering the home, you pass through a foyer area which leads to a double-height living space. The foyer and living area are divided by a thickened cast-in-place concrete wall which houses a fireplace and wood storage. To the right is a large kitchen area and dining. Both spaces flow into a large back porch with full-height storefront windows at the exterior wall. Built-ins divide the main living space from private bedroom areas of the home. Elsewhere, this level houses a guest bedroom, office, playroom, and large studio space. Upstairs are two additional bedrooms and a master suite, with the hallway and open den looking out into the living space below. Above the garage is a large porch covered by a large cantilevered roof structure. This porch also serves as a summer kitchen space for the family.
This design will use a mix of materials at the exterior including hardie siding, specialized wood siding, and composite panels.
