WATERCOLOR, FL 2018
AIA Merit Award, New Construction, Northwest Florida Chapter 2019
For this WaterColor home we wanted to design a home that looked like a quaint and cozy cottage, but could fit the client’s need for a home that would sleep up to 16 people.
An enclosed front porch allows for a bit of privacy and quiet space. Inside we created an open living area and kitchen that is casual and comfortable, but with little nooks so the space does not feel crowded if the house is filled with renters. A fireplace and seating area is a cozy gathering spot that feels separate from the kitchen. The large dining table is bordered by additional seating along the kitchen island. We wanted the home to never feel crowded.
A large bunk room with an attached dayroom stretches the space so guests never feel cramped. Natural light throughout the home connects it to the outdoors and makes the rooms feel larger and open.
Outside of the room is ample parking space for cars, bicycles and all of the accessories that go with a beach vacation.
