SANTA ROSA BEACH, FL 2024
This project, commissioned by the Walton County TDC, enhances the beach experience along 393 in South Walton County by providing a strategically placed tram stop. Designed to cater to beachgoers at Ed Walline Park, the facility includes a sitting area and restrooms, with service extending throughout 30A.
Drawing inspiration from the TDC logo, the design playfully utilizes the roof form to add architectural interest to the otherwise simple structure. The roof, the building’s standout feature, is constructed from translucent fiberglass, allowing natural, soft diffuse light to fill the space. This design choice eliminates the need for artificial lighting during daylight hours, promoting energy efficiency while ensuring the interior remains warmly lit and welcoming.
At night, the roof emits a gentle glow, transforming the tram stop into a distinct and recognizable marker for travelers and visitors. This dual functionality not only enhances the practical use of the space but also contributes to its aesthetic appeal, making it a notable addition to the community infrastructure.
